Why Manassas?

Manassas, Virginia is a dynamic and very active location. There are daily events, activities, things to do, places to go, and sights to see. There is also a lot happening in the community of interest to those who live and work here. Not only is this small city an interesting place to be, there are some things about Manassas that deserve to be celebrated. This blog will highlight one of the resources, the City website -https://www.manassascity.org/ , which is a wealth of information and support.

If you’re new to the area, or haven’t spent much time learning about this place, you may be pleasantly surprised to know that Manassas has won many awards and designations. These were offered both internally and externally to various organizations and parts of the City as well as Prince William County.

In 2018 Manassas was designated - Tree City USA. Have you noticed all the beautiful trees, especially in the spring and fall? “Keep Manassas Beautiful” received the President’s Circle. The City of Manassas GIS and Airport staff were honored with the Governor’s Technology Award.

There is also a long list of Merit and Valor Awards given to the men and women to serve and protect, as police officers, detectives, fire fighters, and EMT’s. We are as safe as we are because of these brave and selfless individuals. The residents of Manassas and Prince William County are fortunate to have such dedicated public servants in our town.

2017 also brought awards and recognitions like, Virginia Municipal League Stairway to Success Award, and Virginia Recycling Award. In 2016 we were awarded the Virginia Institute of Government EBIS (Email Broadcast Information System) Top 10 Award. This technology is critical in a time of crisis, so knowing our communication system is top notch is very reassuring. Also, we received some fun awards, like the Silver Circle Award for Best use of Social Media - Snow to Smiles.

There’s always room for improvement, but we are proud of this city and our communities and neighborhoods. We hope you will also look into all of the wonderful things we have to offer and let us know if we can help you with your housing needs.
